O'Brien Family
The O'Brien Family was born and raised in neighboring Ridgebury Township, Pennsylvania. With a good business sense, they started a creamery in Ridgebury. A Diner opened in the business district of Waverly, New York and as times prospered the business outgrew it's building in town and a new building was erected on the top of Waverly Hill. At first a Diner, but soon a new era began with a booming restaurant business with a breathtaking view of the lower Chemung River valley. In later years a motel was built adjacent to the restaurant. The O'Brien's Family maintained a farm near the restaurant, across the road and down the hill just a short distance, located on the border of the town's Chemung and Waverly. The Motel and Bar/Restaurant remain open today under new management. |
