Israel Rickey Sr. & Family
Israel Rickey Sr. was born January 1, 1751 in Cortland Manor, Dutchess Co. New York and died in Roulette, Potter Co. PA on May 28, 1851 (Buried in the Lyman Cemetery, Coudersport, PA)
Israel enlisted in Captain Beckwith's militia in Sussex County, NJ to fight against the Delaware Indians and the British forces about 1775. In 1777 or 1778 he was drafted into Colonel Hawthorn's Regiment of Orange County, NY militia for nine months. Total service about 13 months and 13 days. He served with both the New York and New Jersey forces during the war. He applied for a pension for his service in the Revolution, dictated at the Court of Common Pleas at the Court House in Elmira, Tioga County, New York on March 5, 1834.
Israel lived in Sussex Co. N.J. until 1792 and removed to Chemung/Tioga Co. where he remained at least until 1837.
Israel Rickey Sr. was found in Chemung on the 1810, 1820 & 1830 U.S. Federal Census's with a total of 11 family members listed in 1810. He owned property in Chemung as listed on the 1803 tax assessment roll.

Daughter, Mercy was born June 18, 1778 and died December 16, 1866.
Son, Israel Rickey, Jr. was born in Chemung in 1784 and died in Bradford County, PA in 1860. He married Lydia Gilbert who was born in Connecticut around 1787.
Israel Jr. and Lydia had at least 2 children, one of whom was James Rickey.
James was born in Warren Co. PA. He married Lucy Van Norman in Chemung in 1847.
Late in life, Israel Sr. moved to Potter County to live with his daughter, Mercy, who was married to Benjamin Burt. Burt was the third pioneer to settle permanently in Potter County. (The Burt family were early pioneer settlers to Chemung, NY)
Israel died at the age of 100 yrs.
