born January 13, 1870 was a third generation resident of Athens, PA. He was descended from Isaac Morley from Connecticut. The Morley Family owned a 100 acre farm located between the old tannery in West Athens and Morley's Crossing. He was one of three brothers, Ira and Judson. He was living with his wife and son in Mills, PA. Wright's wife was Edna Besemer. They had a son Bernard S., a well known Elmira Radio personality in the 1950's and a daughter, Edna Morley Smith.
Wright D. Morley owned the General Store during the years of 1910 to 1919. He owned the Morley Hotel from 1919 to 1928 and became Justice of the Peace in 1925 'til 1927. As a side profession he was a horse trader, shipping horses by railroad from the mid-west and selling them from various locations; Chemung, Athens and Columbia Crossroads.
Wright Morley died on May 8th 1939 in Elmira at 69 years of age. He is buried in the Tioga Point Cemetery. Edna Morley died at the age of 75 in May 1953. Morley Place on Elmira's Southside is named after him.
