Lamech B. Green Family
I was contacted by a woman living in Los Angeles in 2014, looking for Lamech Green and his family. Although there were several Green families living on the west side of the Chemung River in Chemung, NY, I was not familiar with the name Lamech Green. I was new to the historian position in Chemung, so it became a learning experience for me too. I soon met this woman and her friend who drove out east to work on genealogy.
What we discovered was Joe Green Road in North Chemung (Baldwin), Chemung Co. It originally was part of the Town of Chemung before splitting off to the Town of Baldwin. We believe we discovered the location of Lamech's house. We learned he was a blacksmith too. He and his wife and daughters are buried in the Hicks Cemetery, just over the northern border of Chemung, in Baldwin. I have photographs of our travels that day. - Mary Ellen
